Meet Brittney
Supervised by Taren McGowan, LPC-S
My name is Brittney, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate with nearly a decade of experience in crisis intervention and community mental health. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Prairie View A&M University and a Master of Education in Marriage and Family Therapy from Lamar University. I currently serve as a board member with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP): North Texas Chapter, where I co-lead diversity initiatives and advocate for equitable access to mental health education.
I come with experience working from a trauma-informed lens with clients ranging in age from 6 to their 60s. My approach is rooted in empathy, cultural responsiveness, and collaboration. I strive to empower clients by tailoring therapy to fit their unique needs, drawing from a variety of therapeutic approaches to develop practical tools that support growth and healing. Whether helping someone navigate an acute crisis or supporting long-term change, my goal is to provide a safe, affirming, and collaborative space where clients feel seen, supported, and capable of building resilience.
When I am not in session, you can usually find me cheering on my kids at their extracurricular activities, enjoying time with my husband, or planning our next gathering. As a blended family, we love finding new ways to build our bond and create meaningful memories together with our community. Family, laughter, and connection are at the heart of what brings me joy.
