Meet Brittney
Supervised by Taren McGowan, LPC-S
My name is Brittney, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate with nearly a decade of experience in crisis intervention and community mental health. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Prairie View A&M University and a Master of Education in Marriage and Family Therapy from Lamar University. I currently serve as the Board President for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) North Texas Chapter, where I advocate for suicide prevention, mental health awareness, and equitable access to education and resources within our communities.
My work is grounded in a trauma-informed approach that honors each client’s lived experiences and cultural background. I am passionate about supporting middle school, high school, and college students as they navigate the complexities of adolescence into young adulthood; while also working with individuals seeking support through life transitions, grief, anxiety, depression, and other emotional challenges. My approach is rooted in empathy, cultural responsiveness, and collaboration. I strive to empower clients by tailoring therapy to their unique needs, drawing from a variety of therapeutic approaches to develop practical tools that support growth and healing. My goal is to create a safe, affirming, and supportive space where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered to build resilience.
When I am not in session, you can usually find me cheering on my kids at their extracurricular activities, enjoying time with my husband, or catching up with close friends. As a blended family, we love finding new ways to build our bond and create meaningful memories together with our village. Family, laughter, and connection are at the heart of what brings me the most joy.
