Supervised by Sharon Leal, LPC-S

My name is Elizabeth Vasseur, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate. I attended Texas Wesleyan University, where I earned my Bachelor of Science in Psychology, and then Southern Methodist University, where I earned my Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. My training focuses on Play Therapy, Expressive Arts Therapy, and Gestalt Therapy. I am passionate about working with kids, pre-teens, teens, and young adults.

Play can tell us about what is going on in a child’s inner and outer worlds. For kids, my goal is to help them navigate challenges through non-directive play therapy approaches and help parents integrate these approaches at home. This approach lets children express themselves fully, find their own voice, grow their self-efficacy, and work out their feelings in a safe place.

For teens and young adults, I use both talk therapy or Expressive Arts Therapy techniques. Sometimes words say a lot, and we know exactly what to say to express how we feel. Other times, words are just not enough. When words are difficult, we can turn to using colors, textures, and exercises to explore ourselves in a way that can help us understand what we are feeling. Then we can introduce tools to use outside of the therapy room to gain practical skills for real-life situations by reinforcing what they’ve learned during sessions

No matter what, my goal is to help clients feel seen, supported, and empowered. When we work together, I make sure clients feel welcome. It’s okay to have big feelings, make mistakes, and show uniqueness. I bring warmth, humor, playfulness, and respect to every session!

When I’m not working, I love to read, paint, play video games, and drink iced tea outside with my dogs and horses.
