Meet Maggie
My name is Maggie Harper, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Registered Play Therapist. I attended the University of Texas at Austin, where I received both my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in social work. My clinical practice has been focused on working with young children, adolescents, teens, and their families in both the non- profit and outpatient community mental health settings.
I am passionate about supporting children, adolescents, and their families as they explore, navigate, and overcome, the unique challenges they are met with. My goal is to create a genuine and positive therapeutic relationship, so that children and adolescents are able to express feelings, thoughts, experiences and behaviors in natural and intuitive ways such as non directive play and creative mediums. This approach allows children to develop healthy coping strategies, foster social and emotional intelligence, process past and current experiences, and ultimately reach the goals that they and their families hope for. I believe that children, adolescents, and their caregivers, enter the counseling relationship with inherent strengths that can be identified and harnessed to help create positive and lasting change.
I live in Fort Worth with my husband, son, and two cats. I enjoy reading, gardening, going for long walks, hiking, camping, and spending time with my immediate and extended family.
